Feeding Raw

Since the day I was born good food and dogs have been a part of our family's daily life.  I say this because the decision to switch our dogs to a RAW natural diet was initially linked to our family’s love of good food, and not necessarily to the  dogs' health benefits. One night after work I stopped by the store to pick up steak for a Friday evening grill, in my eagerness to get home and start grilling I forgot to buy dog food.  That oversight left us no other choice but to feed Cyra some of our steak.  We never saw her eat like that before, she was three months old!

We immediately began researching information on feeding raw meat to dogs.  We quickly discovered there is a plethora of information both for and against this practice.  All the different views on the topic could not change the most important fact, Cyra loved raw meat!  After reading the book, “Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats, The Ultimate Diet”, by Kymythy R. Schultze, C.N., C.N.C. we made the switch.

It has been over five years since Cyra has been on an all natural diet.  She is both extremely healthy and very happy.  Cyra whelped her first litter in November 2011 and produced four great puppies. She is currently carrying her second litter and we are hoping for the same great results.  We maintain her and Astro on a routine checkup schedule with our local veterinarian and they both maintain a perfect bill of health.  Good food makes people happy and our love for good food has not changed, but it has gone to the dogs!

If you are interested in learning more about the benefits of an all natural diet we recommend that you research both the pros and cons of natural raw feeding.  Here are some resources that we find very informative.
